Many thickening shampoos, conditioners and mousses promise to make your hair thicker and fuller. However these thickening products do not really make your hair thickener, but create the appearance of thicker and fuller hair.
Most hair thickening shampoos and mousses contain special polymers which coat the hair shafts to make them look thicker and fuller. Essentially these polymers cover up the imperfections on the hair strands making appear more thicker. However the effects of these hair thickeners are only temporary so you will not achieve lasting thickness. The most common polymer used in hair products is called PVP. This polymer coats the hair shaft to fill in missing areas of the hair strand to create a smooth surface. Hair thickening products are also filled with hydrolyzed proteins, that temporarily enter the hair shaft, creating the appearance of thicker hair. While other hair thickening products contain silicone which forms a thin film around the hair shaft creating the illusion of thicker hair.
Natural ways to make hair thicker:
If you are looking for natural ways to make your hair thicker then there are a few things you can do. The first thing you can do is beat a few eggs and add them to your hair. Let them sit in your hair for about 10 minutes then rinse. Consider taking multivitamin supplements that contain biotin, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin D, folate and vitamin C, magnesium, silica and sulfur. You can also apply oat flour, banana and avocado to your hair. Again, leave in for about 10 minutes then rinse. Lastly, make sure is hair is trimmed at least every three months. If hair goes untrimmed, it will lead to split ends which causes brittle slow growing hair.
